Call FIRE

Faculty Legal Defense Hotline

The Faculty Legal Defense Fund (FLDF) is FIRE’s program tailored to offering “first responder” assistance in protecting the freedom of expression and academic freedom held by faculty members at public colleges and universities. This hotline provides legal help — at no cost to faculty members — by connecting them, where needed and appropriate, to experienced counsel in their area who are in our network of pre-screened and pre-selected participating attorneys.

Student Press Freedom Initiative Hotline

FIRE’s Student Press Freedom Initiative (SPFI) defends free press on campus by advocating for the rights of student journalists at colleges and universities across the country. Student journalists and student media advisers can call SPFI’s 24-hour hotline to get rapid resources for their legal questions.
